Your first questions, and how to read an answer

Ask

Type a question in the box at the bottom of the Ask view and press Enter. Ask it the way you would ask a colleague, in English or Hinglish:

  • "Who owes us more than ₹5 lakh, and for how long?"
  • "Top 10 expenses in September"
  • "April mein 1 lakh se upar ke kitne vouchers the?"
  • "Statement of Gupta Agencies from 1 April to 30 September, with a payment reminder"

Before your first question, the box suggests a few, built from the latest month in your books. A follow-up carries on from the last answer: "now the same for August" works.

Most answers take 5 to 30 seconds; a question over a whole year of vouchers can take longer. While Tallycon works, the sheet shows what it is reading from Tally. To stop, press Stop or Esc.

Read the answer

Each answer is set as a numbered schedule, the way you would hand it to a partner. From the top:

The same answer in full: the headline figure (1), the summary (2), the ageing schedule with its Total row (3) and the vouchers behind the selected row (4)
Asked: “Who owes us more than ₹5 lakh, and for how long?”
  1. The figure
  2. The summary
  3. The schedule
  4. The proof

Headline. The figure the question asked for, in lakh or crore, with the exact amount under it. A count is shown as a count, not in rupees.

Summary. A few lines on what the figure means and what Tallycon read to get it.

Detail and proof. The reading log (each read from Tally, with the period), a ₹ / lakh / crore switch, and the table. Each row has a green tick and the number of vouchers behind it; the last row is the Total or Net, between a rule and a double rule.

The vouchers. Click a row, or move with ↑ and ↓, and its vouchers open beside the table as slips: date, type, number, party, each ledger line and the narration.

Why you can rely on the figures

The sums, counts, ageing and tax are worked out by Tallycon from what Tally sent, not added up by the AI. The AI picks what to read and writes the summary; it quotes totals Tallycon computed.

Every voucher on a slip was returned by Tally for that question. If the AI cites a voucher Tally did not return, Tallycon drops it. Some figures have no voucher to show, such as a bill raised before your books in Tally begin.

Check a row the way you would check a junior's working: open its vouchers, or export the answer and look at the ledger lines (see Exporting to Excel and PDF).

A Hinglish question answered with a count of 63 vouchers, a table by voucher type with amounts and voucher counts, the rupee, lakh and crore toggle, and the vouchers behind the answer open beside it
Asked: “April mein 1 lakh se upar ke kitne vouchers the?”

What you can ask about

Area For example
Balances and totals Cash and bank today; sales by month; ledgers over ₹1 crore; debtors with a credit balance
Vouchers By type, party, amount or day; vouchers without a narration; exact counts and totals
Receivables and payables Bill-wise outstanding and ageing, with what is on account; a party's statement and the receipts settling each bill
GST Output tax and input credit by rate, category and HSN, with exceptions to look at
TDS By section, deductee, month or quarter; deductees with no PAN; lines at the wrong rate
Audit trail Vouchers altered after entry, entered late, cancelled or optional; gaps and duplicates in voucher numbers
Cash limits Cash receipts, payments and loans over the Income-tax limits
Bank Bank reconciliation as on a date, with each open line
Payroll and stock Salary by employee, pay head or month; stock movement by item
Comparisons This year against last, when both years are loaded in Tally

For a month's or a year's GST in one go, use GST review beside the box: pick the period and choose Add to conversation. The review is made from the invoices in Tally without the AI, and you can ask follow-up questions about it.

Ask well

  • Name the dates. "Outstanding as on 30 September 2026" is answered as on that day; without a date, ageing runs to today.
  • Ask for the figure you want computed. "Total of the top five" gets a total Tallycon worked out; adding up a table yourself afterwards is where mistakes creep in.
  • Ask for a message when you want one. "With a payment reminder" or "draft a confirmation" adds a note for the party under the summary, with a Copy button.
  • Say which year when your books are split by financial year and the question does not give dates.

Under each answer

  • Cost. What the answer cost at the AI's list price, in US dollars.
  • Thumbs up or down. Tells us what worked. A thumbs down asks what was wrong. It is saved in the question log on this computer (on a laptop paired with an office, in the office's question log, beside the question); nothing is sent to us. Settings, Data & privacy can show the log file if you want to send it to us.
  • Excel and PDF. See Exporting to Excel and PDF.

Conversations

Questions are kept as conversations on this computer, so you can come back to one after a restart and carry on; Tallycon remembers what was asked. The list above the sheets shows the open client's conversations (All clients shows everyone's), with rename and delete, and New conversation starts afresh. The newest 50 are kept.

A conversation belongs to the books it was asked about. Open a conversation about another client and Tallycon does not carry on against the books now open: it offers Switch Tally to that client's company, or a new conversation.
